Madelia Health Foundation Funds Orthopedic Equipment

The Madelia Health Foundation has funded a new oscillating bone saw to be used by Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Angela Honstad. She is currently seeing orthopedic patients at the Madelia Health. Donations were made by area community members as part of the Foundation’s “Hip Hip Hooray” campaign last fall, which provided over $35,000 in funding to purchase the Stryker saw with the necessary attachments and sterilization features.

Dr. Honstad began seeing patients in July of 2020 at Madelia Health and has a special interest in the areas of joint replacement, sports medicine, and fracture care. Many local patients need orthopedic surgical services such as knee replacements or shoulder repairs.

“The Foundation raised the funds for the bone saw so Madelia Health could offer these surgical services close to home,” said Sara Schauer, Foundation Executive Director. “Specialized equipment like this will help Dr. Honstad to build her practice here by providing successful surgical outcomes for patients.”
